OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Abhi Rose was established on the 11th August 2015 in memory of Abhi and Peter Burman, who were prominent members of the local Kirklees community running local businesses for over 30 years.

Both Abhi and Peter were active within the community and often a point of reference and solace for those seeking help or simply to provide a listening ear. They were strong believers that we all have a duty of care to others, particularly to our elders and the most vulnerable within society. They always ensured that time was spent helping those in need, which certainly included providing valuable time to the elderly.

Our name

In case you were wondering about our name, both Abhi and Peter were of Indian origin. Abhi was the shortened name for Abhilasha, an Indian name with the meaning of ‘desire.’ The rose is associated with Peter, whose full name was Parshotam with the Indian meaning of ‘gentleman’, of which he was a true gentleman to the core. Peter always used to ensure that wherever they lived, the garden was full of roses and a favourite pastime for Peter was pruning the roses to ensure they always looked their best.

Our colours

Our colours, purple and aqua, reflect Abhi’s favourite colour while also serving as a calming colour for those individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related illnesses. The aqua was down to our logo designer providing the perfect contrast with purple, accompanied with a white rose heart to reflect our ethics of ‘Care at Heart’.
